Terry Lynn Owens, 69, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Mercy New Life Hospice, of a brief illness. He was born July 25, 1952, in Elyria, Ohio, but lived most of his life in Lorain, Ohio.


Terry served his country as a U.S. Marine for 5 years. He fought in the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart. After the military, he went into several trades; with Ford Motor Company being his last employer. He enjoyed traveling around in his truck, "Big Red." And, he loved admiring luxury cars and nice homes. However, his most prized possessions were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he dearly loved spending time with.


Terry will be sadly missed by: his daughters, Angela (James) Anderson, of Columbus, and Valerie C. Owens, of Lorain; his son, Cordell W. Smith, of Avon Lake; his sister, Rita D. Aggee of Elyria; his grandsons, Xavier "Tank" Owens of Lorain and James T. Anderson of Columbus; his granddaughters, Desiree S. Owens of Columbus and Valerie I. Owens of Lorain; his 3 great-grandchildren, Jerviyian, Zaylei-SuRae', and Xylaina, all of Columbus. His memory will also be cherished by his best friend/brother of 50+ years, Lorenzo Glover; his goddaughter, Pamoja "Sam" Lammkin; special nieces, Teresa "Pig" Lusane and Grace Williams; and his special daughter, Cassandra Holloway.


Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Debra (Kates) Owens; his parents, William Spence and Maybelle (Dixon) Owens; three brothers, Frank Owens Sr., Percy Owens, and Michael Owens, and a sister, Betty J. Owens.


A walk-through viewing will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at Living Word Church, 2002 E. 28th St., Lorain. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.


Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
