Anwar Hanibal

Anwar “Andy” Hanibal, 43, transitioned on May 4, 2026.

Anwar was born May 13, 1982, in Oberlin, Ohio, and raised on W. 23rd in Lorain. It was there that his foundation was built and where he formed lifelong friendships, carrying a piece of Lorain with him wherever he went. He was the youngest of four: Gegia, Rashad, Murad "Robby," and Anwar "Andy".

He later made Greensboro, North Carolina his second home, where he continued building lasting friendships and an extended network of family and friends. His greatest joy was his daughters, Jasmine and Madison, who carry forward his love and spirit.

Anwar would light up the room as he entered and greeted you, “What's happen captain…” He will be remembered for his resilience, humor, and the way he showed up for others. The fight inside him was unmatched—he faced every challenge head-on until he was called home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Tina Hanibal, grandparents James and Rose Hannibal and grandparents Albert and Margarette Campbell.

Private family services will be held.
