Barbara Jean Mingee

Barbara Jean Mingee, 81, passed away on May 14, 2026, at Normandy Nursing Home in Rocky River, Ohio. Born in Cleveland on September 3, 1944, Barbara spent most of her life in Lorain County before returning to Rocky River in her later years.

Barbara retired from Lorain County Family Services, where she dedicated her career to supporting children and families in the foster care department. She was a former member of Church of the Redeemer in Lorain and pursued her education at Baldwin Wallace University and Lorain County Community College.

A quiet soul with simple joys, Barbara was an avid reader and loved walking her dog. Her gentle nature and steady presence will be deeply missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Clifford (Michele) Wood of Strongsville and Michael (Janet) Woods of Sheffield Lake, and her grandson, Christopher Wood.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Wood, and her parents, Walter and Barbara Osborne.

Private family services were held.
