Barbara Ann Quinn Aldridge

Barbara Ann Quinn Aldridge, 71, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 20, 2025.

Born in Lorain on April 7, 1954, Barbara graduated from Lorain High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Education and Spanish from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her passion for learning and service guided her throughout her life.

Barbara lived in several places over the years, including Middletown, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Germany, before returning to her hometown of Lorain. Her journey reflected a spirit of adventure and resilience.

Barbara had an extensive career working with government and nonprofit agencies.

Barbara worked at Board of Elections in the Training and Recruitment Department for 18 years. She also worked at Lorain County Community Action Agency- Head Start as a Director for 10 years, and Lorain County Children Services.

She was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Lorain, where she served as interim secretary and regularly read announcements during Sunday morning services. Her voice and presence were a cherished part of the congregation.

Barbara was active in numerous organizations, including the Democratic Party, the National Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the Old School Lorain Groove. Her civic engagement and leadership left a lasting impact on those around her.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—solving puzzles, reading, watching game shows like Family Feud, traveling, cooking, and playing cards. Her warmth, humor, and generosity touched many lives.

Barbara is survived by her beloved son, Adam Aldridge of Lorain; her brother, Luther Washington of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Gwendolyn Washington-Tye of Barberton, OH, and Diane Quinn Austin of Lorain; a daughter-in-law, Tameka Aldridge; and Archie Aldridge, and host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Quinn Aldridge; her father, William A Quinn; her mother, Ida (Patterson) Quinn; her sisters, Darlene Quinn and Dotti Washington; her brothers, Richard Washington and Donald Washington.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with viewing from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Second Baptist Church, 300 W. 13th St, Lorain OH 44052. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.
