Benneye Elaine Gooden-Young

Benneye Elaine Gooden-Young, affectionately known to all as “Elaine,” passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born January 25, 1965, in Louisville, Mississippi, Elaine later relocated to Lorain, Ohio, where she grew up, attended school, and built a beautiful life. She was a proud graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1983.

Elaine was a woman of immense joy, warmth, and faith. She was a devoted and active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Lorain, where her kind heart and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.

Known for her outgoing personality, Elaine loved socializing and was often the life of the gathering. Whether she was dancing, preparing a wonderful meal for those she loved, or enjoying time on the bowling lanes with her beloved bowling club, Elaine embraced life and created lasting memories with the people around her.

Above all, Elaine was defined by her fierce loyalty to her family and friends. She possessed a genuinely kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need whenever she was able. Her presence brought comfort to those around her, and her love and dedication to the people she cherished were unwavering.

Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mac Kenneth Young, in July 2007; her father, Bennie Gooden Jr., in September 2017; her mother, Dorothy Gooden-Wallace, in March 2023; and her brother, David Lee Gooden, in March 2022.

Her legacy of love, kindness, faith, and friendship will forever live on through her surviving siblings, Dennis E. Gooden Sr. and Linda D. Gooden, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
