Lorene Bracy, a devoted woman of faith, loving wife, and loving mother entered eternal rest on June 4th, 2026.
Lorene was born on March 28th, 1940, in Huntingdon, Tennessee to Willie and Helen Sutton. She accepted Christ at an early age and later moved to Lorain, Ohio where she was a long-time member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.
Lorene worked in the Admiral King High School library and also worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. Lorene was well known among family members for her love for fashion and sewing suits and dresses. She also enjoyed gardening and loved cooking for her family. Lorene’s cherished family time included holidays, movie nights, trips to the store, and cookouts. Lorene was selfless and always made time for family and was considered the “glue” that kept family together; the epitome of “Southern Lady” hospitality. She had a strong relationship with God and made sure everyone knew about the Bible.
Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Willie and Helen Sutton, husband Elder John Bracy, son Mark A. Bracy and daughter-in-law Cyndy (John) Bracy, grandson Alfie Gilchrist Jr., and her siblings Art Sutton, Margo Sutton, Roberta Sutton, and Tommie Sutton.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children: John Bracy Jr. of Lorain, Brian K. Bracy of Lorain, Angela Bracy Heath of Alexandria, Virginia, and Jacqueline (Elder Alfred) Gilchrist of Lorain; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; siblings Willie Sutton, Michael Sutton, Felix Sutton, Kelly Sutton, Jason (Cedric) Sutton, Kizzie Ann Sutton, and Duane Sutton; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain, Ohio; Pastor Tyrone Holley officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
