Bruce Lovett Sr

Bruce Lovett Sr. was born to the late Vernoy Lovett Sr. and Fern Charles Ann Lovett (Brooks) on January 14, 1962, in Lorain, Ohio. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Bruce attended Southview High School in Lorain, Ohio and held a variety of odd jobs until his illness prevented him.

Bruce was well loved by everyone and was known as the “Jokester” of the family. He loved seeing smiles on everyone’s face. Bruce always had a kind word and was truly a joy to be around.

Bruce met Deborah (Debbie) Johnson in 2011, and their relationship blossomed into them becoming husband and wife on July 10, 2013. They shared a deep love and tremendous appreciation for one another. When you saw one, you saw the other! His greatest joys in life were spending time with his wife, his family and hosting cookouts.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Vernoy Lovett Sr. and Fern Charles Ann Lovett, his brother Vernoy Lovett Jr. and sister, Crystal Brooks.

Left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Deborah (Debbie) L. Johnson Lovett; son, Bruce Lovett Jr., stepdaughters, Melanie (MiMi) L. Johnson and Joy M. Johnson; granddaughter, Dry’ma L. Johnson; grandsons, Miquel Lovett-Turner, Mehki Johnson, and Major Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth Lee (Caroline) Brooks, Gerard Lovett, Richard Brooks, Parry Brooks, Kavin Brooks, Bryant (Courtney) Brooks; sisters, Anna Brooks Polke, Cheryl Lovett Jones, Teresa (Tony) Brooks Fields and Betty Brooks; and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11 AM until the time of his funeral service at Noon at the Brown Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Rd, Lorain OH 44053. Minister Kersha Poindexter will officiate the service and perform the eulogy.
