Calvin Jeter, of Lorain, a devoted man of faith, loving husband, father, and respected community leader, entered eternal rest on April 14, 2026. Born on December 31, 1959, in Birmingham Alabama, Calvin lived a life rooted in his love for God and his family. He firmly believed in the divine order of life—placing God first—and remained steadfast in that commitment throughout his life.
Calvin attended Southview High School. Despite limited vision in one eye, he excelled and earned recognition as an All-State (MVP) senior basketball player and was known for winning multiple games at the buzzer. He graduated from college in 1985 and later held a prestigious position as Treasurer with the Lorain Board of Education. He also served as an IT Operations Manager at Elyria Memorial Hospital, where he dedicated 20 years of service.
In his spare time, Calvin brought his competitive spirit to both bowling and pool—known by family and friends as a true sharpshooter and bowling champion who rarely missed his mark.
In 1994 Calvin and Zora (Williams) were wed. Calvin and Zora Jeter were members of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, where Calvin faithfully served as a deacon, where he demonstrated his commitment to God through service, leadership, and devotion to his church family.
Calvin’s continued passion for basketball led him to be a well-respected community coach, as well as a Lorain City School junior high basketball coach, mentoring and inspiring countless young athletes. His commitment, leadership, and work ethic earned him deep respect among his colleagues and community.
Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Janie and William Jeter; his maternal grandparents, Mingo and Teresa Bracey; and his paternal grandparents, William and Annie Jeter.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Zora Jeter, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. He is also survived by his cherished children: Anna Lee Jeter, Courtney Mitchell, and Ruth Ann Paige. He was a proud brother to Lisa Harris, William Jeter, and Tracey Robinson, all of Lorain OH, and Beverly Diane Harris of Alabama. He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved grandchildren, Diontae Mallory Jr. and Diani Mallory, followed by nieces and nephews, Jalise, Jada, Jayvon, Robert, Darail, Leeanna, Jerome, Charles, Janatus, Ebone, Audriana, Xavier, Marquis, Alayna, Amani, and Amaya along with extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11am until the time of service at 12pm at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain OH 44052, with Pastor Elder Tyrone Holley officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
