Carrie M. Williams-Hubbard

Carrie Marie Williams-Hubbard (née Atkinson), 85, of Wooster, Ohio, finally met her Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was born July 26, 1936, in Lorain, Ohio to the union of Harry Atkinson, Sr. and Carrie Marie Atkinson (Tucker). She was a graduate of Lorain High School, 1955 Class B, and Lorain County Community College, where she earned an associate degree. Carrie worked for 3 years with Head Start before continuing her journey to success, working at Lorain City Schools for one year. She decided she loved working with and helping people, so she ventured into the career of social service work for Lorain County Human Services, where she worked for 23 years. Carrie was baptized at an early age. In 1952 she became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lorain. She was very active in several committees, Rose of Sharon, women’s choir, women’s ministry, youth teaching, and the Baptist Teaching Union, as well as being a director in Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and spending time with her family. She more importantly “Praised God.” She never met a stranger and always greeted you with a big smile. Carrie leaves to cherish her memory 7 children, Virgil Jr. (Mary) Williams of Cedar Hill Texas, Bradley Sr. and Charles (Jeff) Williams, both of Lorain Ohio, Joseph Williams (Sonya) of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Patrick Williams of Marshall, Michigan, Bryant (Shirley) Williams of Akron, Ohio and Barbara (Ben) Davis of Wooster, Ohio; 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jenny Atkinson and Lisa Atkinson; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Atkinson Sr. and Carrie Marie Atkinson (Tucker); two children, Wanda Williams and Jerome Williams; her husbands, Virgil Williams Sr. and Horace Hubbard; three brothers, Harry Atkinson Jr., Derrick Atkinson and Frederick Atkinson, and a grandchild, Bryant Williams Jr. A viewing will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1516 E. 30th St., Lorain, OH. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
