Carrie Bell Moore (nee Jackson),92, of Lorain, passed away Monday June 19, 2023 in UH St. John Medical Center in Westlake, OH following a brief illness. She was born November 7, 1930, in Camden, Alabama to George Sr. and Maggie Dell Jackson. She had been a resident of Lorain for over 70 years.

Carrie worked most of her life as a nursing assistant and in food service. She had a strong work ethic. She worked many extra shifts because she enjoyed working and providing for her family. Anytime her family was in need she went above and beyond. 

Carrie loved going to Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved watching them smile and having a good time. She frequently took family trips with her children and grandchildren. She also loved taking camping trips, and especially loved night fishing.

Carrie was a true Matriarch, and had a heart of gold, and was call "Mamma" by many who knew her. She so selflessly poured into so many while nurturing her 17 children. 

Carrie is survived by her sons; Richard Burroughs Sr., Anthony Moore, Jeffrey Moore Sr., of Lorain, Melvin Moore of Cleveland and LaFaye Moore of Lakeland, Florida; daughters; Edith Fields of Waveland, Mississippi, Rosetta Alexander of Buffalo, New York, Marilyn (George) Thomas, Aldrenna (Ricky) Smith, Lenise Moore, Dorothy Evans-Herring, and granddaughter Taleeyah Hairston, all of Lorain; step-daughter; Shirley Ann Valentine Davis, and step-son, David Moore; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Rosa Ewing of Spencer and, Ellen (Bernard) Boykin of Twinsburg; sister-in-law, Alice Jackson of Spencer ; brothers; Willie (Ivra) Jackson of Oberlin, Richard (Shelia) Jackson of Spencer, George Jr.(Dorothy) Jackson of Medina. 

She was a devoted and caring wife to her husband, West Moore Jr. who preceeded her in death. She was also preceeded in death by her children: Jimmy “Pee Wee” Evans, Michael Moore, Lawrence “Junebug” Evans, Charles Burroughs, Douglas Timothy “Elvis” Moore, and Terrence Jerome Jackson; step-son Roger McGee; step-daughters Cherleen Noble, and Rita Moore Seavers; grandchildren: Twanna Makim Evans, Ivan Labron Jones, Douglas Moore Jr., Camron Hairston, Romona Evans-O’Linger, Anthony King Sr., Jeffrey Moore Jr., and Marlena Taylor; great grandchildren, Jamaica Auston, Jaiden Dunlap, Rylee Dunlap, Jaleel Wood, Xavier Green, and Kevontae Ruffin; great -great grandchildren; Melija Mae Maxwell and Christopher Raphel Morris Jr.; parents, George Sr. and Maggie Dell Jackson; sisters, Emma Mae Jones, Agnes Patton, and Florida Mae Thomas; brothers, Clinton Zane, Amos Jackson Sr., Tommy Lee Jackson, Sammie Lee Jackson, Edgar Jackson and Larry Jackson. 

Visitation will be held on July 1, 2023 from 11 AM until time of service at 12 PM at Living Word Church 2002 E. 28th St., Lorain, OH Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
