Charles Robbins, age 84, of Lorain, passed away on May 12, 2026, at Saint Joseph Hospice Center following a brief illness. He transitioned peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Born on January 27, 1942, in Sparta, Georgia, Charles lived a full and accomplished life marked by hard work, and dedication.
Charles was formerly employed at Gibson’s Bakery, General Electric and General Motors before continuing his career at Ford Motor Company, where he worked until his retirement. A man of many talents, he was also a licensed barber, having attended Barber College in Cleveland. He owned and operated Sure Cutts Barbershop in Lorain, where he became well known in the community.
Never one to stop learning, Charles earned certification as an HVAC specialist from the Westside Institute of Air Conditioning and Heating. He was also a black belt in martial arts, a testament to his discipline and determination.
Charles loved music and was known for playing the guitar. He performed in several bands throughout the years and enjoyed all sports.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Robbins (née Lumpkin); his children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 12:00PM at Greater St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, 1909 West 24th Street, Lorain, Ohio.
