Charles Edward Turner Jr., age 57, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, following a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lorain on August 15, 1968, Charles was the beloved son of Charles Edward Turner, Sr. and Eliza Bell Watkins. He attended Admiral King High School, where he was a standout athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field—leaving behind records that still speak to his talent and dedication.
Charles was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Green Bay Packers. He found joy in family gatherings, particularly during holidays and cookouts, where his warmth and humor brought people together.
He is survived by his three sons, Edward Aumon Zinn-Turner, Charles Edward Turner, III, and Gavin Leon Zinn, all of The Woodlands, Texas; his three grandchildren, Sidra Alicia Zinn Turner, Celene Rian Zinn Turner, and Emery Jamie Zinn Turner; his mother, Eliza Bell Watkins; his siblings, Veronica Watkins of Akron (passed away October 24, 2025), Charlotte Watkins (Terry) Miller of Columbus, Tearle Turner, Gwendolyn Turner (Tristan) Kelly of Canton, Melvin Turner of Columbus, Charles “Boo-Boo” Turner, III, Jamar Owens of Canton, Marquita (Eric) Bradley of Tampa, Florida, and Dominquez Owens of Columbus; his aunts, Rosa Hughes and Katie Rowser; a special nephew, Jasmine (JD) Watkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Turner, Sr.; his companion, Jamie Ann Zinn; his grandparents, Eddie and Mamie Turner, and Wade and Lossie Mae Watkins; his stepfather, Ronnie Owens, Sr.; and his aunt, Marion Watkins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Rd., Lorain, OH 44053. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
