Charlie Burt, 75, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away on February 27, 2026. Born July 13, 1950, in Edgefield, South Carolina, he was the son of Weaver Jr. and Rosetta Burt, who preceded him in death.
Charlie moved to Elyria at age five and remained a lifelong resident. A proud graduate of Elyria High School, he completed a carpentry apprenticeship and earned the distinction of Master Carpenter. He was a former member of Sidonia Mason Lodge No. 93 and member of the Lorain County Carpenters Local 305.
Charlie was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan whose loyalty never wavered, faithfully cheering on his team through every season. He had a lifelong passion for cars and enjoyed attending car shows, where he appreciated fine craftsmanship.
A true Master Carpenter, Charlie took immense pride in his work. Beyond his profession, he generously shared his talents with family, friends, and neighbors—always willing to lend a hand, offer guidance, or help build and repair whatever was needed. He found great fulfillment in using his craft to serve others, quietly improving the lives of those around him through his workmanship and kindness. Above all, Charlie treasured his role as a grandfather. He found immense joy in traveling to support his grandchildren in their athletic pursuits, rarely missing an opportunity to sit in the stands, offer encouragement, and celebrate their accomplishments. Being present for those moments was one of his greatest pleasures and a true reflection of his deep love and devotion to family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Emily Burt; his daughter, Chastity and husband Christopher McFerrin of Alpharetta, Georgia; his son, Camaren and wife Andrea Burt of Columbus, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Cierra McFerrin, Christopher McFerrin Jr., Camaren Burt II, and Camille Burt. He is also survived by his siblings, Eunice Burt of Lorain, Ohio; Pierce Burt of Lorain, Ohio; and Johnie Burt of Bedford, Ohio; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain Ohio 44053. A viewing will also take place from 8:00 a.m. until time of services at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria, Ohio, where Reverend Dr. Carl P Small is the pastor. The Reverend Calvin Currie, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Elyria will officiate. Burial will take place at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, Ohio.
In loving memory of Charlie’s favorite color, burgundy, the family kindly invites guests to wear a touch of burgundy to the Homegoing Celebration as a symbol of remembrance and love.
