Christopher Charles Wilkes Sr. was born on June 15, 1963, in Lorain, to Donald Ray Wilkes and Elaine Herrera-Franks. Known to many as Big Chris, he carried a vibrant personality and a natural ability to connect with people. He had a strong presence, a great sense of humor, and a way of making others feel comfortable and welcome.
Chris attended J. Eugene McAtee High School and later attended Central State University. He went on to build a career in sales, where his outgoing personality and ability to relate to others served him well throughout the years.
Chris had a love for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed cooking and took pride in preparing meals for family and friends. He had a sharp sense of style, always liked to dress well, and was known for cracking jokes that could lighten any room. In his downtime, he enjoyed playing video games and relaxing in his own way.
At the age of 62, Chris transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, April 27, 2026, suddenly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Wilkes; his paternal grandparents, Leland Wilkes and Nancy Ann Wilkes; his maternal grandmother, Edith Brown; and his brother, Mark Wilkes.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Elaine Herrera-Franks; his sons, Christopher Wilkes Jr., Benjamin Wilkes, and Quentin Wilkes; his daughters, Jazmine (Cordale) Smith and Mia Wilkes; five grandchildren; his brothers, Bradley Wilkes and Michael (Peachy) Feamster; along with a host of extended family and friends who will continue to hold him close in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Rd., Lorain OH 44053. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
