David Ammons

David Ammons, 66, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, following a sudden illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 24, 1958, in Lorain, Ohio, David was a lifelong resident of Lorain County. After graduating from Admiral King High School, he pursued training to become a skilled Auto Mechanic. He dedicated over three decades to his profession and retired from Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet of Avon after 30 years of service, earning admiration and respect from colleagues and customers alike.

David was an active member of House of Healing Outreach International Church in Elyria, Ohio, where he served on the usher board and participated in the men’s ministry, "Genesis Men," forming lasting connections within his faith community.

Known for his love of shooting pool, David found great enjoyment in the game. Pool was more than a game to him; it was a passion. Playing in The Outlaw Monday Pool League and The Ohio Valley Pool League alongside his brothers and nephews brought him joy and unforgettable memories.

He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and family, found fulfillment in working on cars, and took pride in showcasing his culinary skills, cooking meals that brought family together. He was affectionately known as "Daddy Dave" because of his big heart and unbreakable bond with not only his children and grandchildren but with all of his nieces and nephews.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Denise M. Ammons (née Fields); his son, David Ammons Jr. of Lorain; his daughters, Shanice Ammons of North Ridgeville, and Shayla (Earnest III) Bowie of Elyria, OH; and his five grandchildren: Desean Fitzpatrick, Brielle Ammons, Leilani Bowie, Jayden Ammons, and Josiah Ammons; his five brothers; Willie T (Jennifer)Ammons Jr. of Lorain, Tommy Lee (Dawn) Ammons of Elyria, Ricky Ammons of Elyria, Jimmy Ammons of Lorain, and Michael (Brigitte) Ammons; brother -in-law Clifford Greenhill Sr.; his four sisters; Doris Ammons of Elyria, Ella Mae Ammons-Davis of Lorain, Linda Ammons of Lorain, and Nancy Ammons of Columbus, OH.; and also leaves behind a host of adoring beloved nieces, nephews, and an extended network of family members and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Adella and Willie T. Ammons Sr; his brother, Billy Ammons; his sister, Emma Jean Greenhill (née Ammons); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Deacon Eddie Fields and Mearlean Fields; and his sister-in-law, Cathy L. Fields-Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 12 pm until the funeral service at 1 pm at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home Celebration Center, located at 6075 Middle Ridge Rd. Lorain, Ohio 44053.

David will be dearly missed, He brought warmth, wisdom, and kindness to everyone he met, and his legacy will continue to shine through the lives he touched. The cherished memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
