David Robert Anderson

Wise beyond his years, father to the neighborhood, and an undocumented music aficionado, David Robert Anderson was truly one of a kind.

Born in Elyria, Ohio on January 25, 1948, David was always a force to be reckoned with. After graduating from Midview Schools, David was determined to build a life that he could be proud of and in 1968 he joined the United States Air Force, where he developed an even greater love for planes and travel. Stationed in Guam during the Vietnam War, David earned the highly respected position of boom operator.

While home on leave visiting family, David met the woman who would become the love of his life, his steady love, and his forever partner Brenda Robinson. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, David began working for Ford Motor Company. A true car lover, working for Ford was a dream job. It provided stability David needed to take the next big step in his life, and in 1973, he and Brenda were married.

Together they shared two children, David and Kimberly, four grandchildren, 53 years of marriage and countless memories that will live forever.

David was a man of many talents, interests and hobbies. Along with his love for planes, cars and travel, he loved photography and took beautiful pictures. No matter how many times Brenda told him not to buy anything else, David would still spend many Saturday mornings driving around looking for a good garage sale.

He also had a passion for gardening and took pride in his plants, often bragging about how big his hostas and collard greens had grown. David was equally proud of his barbecue, proclaiming that he made some of the prettiest-and best tasting- ribs and chicken around.

But music was his greatest love. If you caught him on a good day he could talk to you about gospel music for hours. He knew his music, loved his music, and was always ready to share what he knew with anyone willing to listen.

David loved his community and was never afraid to speak up for what he believed was right. He often attended City Council meetings. Advocating for and encouraging improvements throughout the south side of town. His love for his community extended far beyond words; he was a father figure, mentor, friend, and source of wisdom to many. To countless people, David was simply Dad, Uncle, Big Dave, Bubba or Mr. A, whether they were family by blood or by love; you could always count on David to tell a good story, give encouraging words, and slide in a few good jokes along the way. That was his gift…that is his legacy.

Total restoration began for David on August 15, 2026. Here to continue his legacy is his wife of 53 years Brenda, his son David (daughter in love Khalilah) and daughter Kimberly; grandchildren Jendayi, David II, and Mason Anderson, and Kamille Harris; sister Ardelia Tolbert; countless “adopted” sons and daughters, extended family and friends.

David is reunited in heaven with his mother, Catherine Anderson, and brothers Robert C. Brown and Ronnie J. Anderson.

We invite you to join us as we honor and celebrate the life of David Robert Anderson on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Faith Ministries Greater Victory, 1306 Euclid Ave. Lorain, Ohio 44052, where he was a longtime member.

Public viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a spirit-filled celebration of his life at 11:00 a.m.

David lived a life full of love, laughter, service, family, friendship, music, and memories. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue through every life he touched, every story he told, every lesson he shared and every person who carries a piece of his love forward.
