David John Watson

 

David John Watson, 56, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at MetroHealth Center in Cleveland following a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 23, 1966 in Lorain, Ohio to Thomas H. and Mahaley Watson. He was a graduate of Oberlin High School. In 1990, he graduated from Cleveland State University.

Mr. Watson was employed at the Nord Center and Oberlin City Schools where he also served as a basketball coach. He was an avid Raiders fan. 

Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 29 years, Francie;  stepchildren: Marshall Brown of Texas, Amanda Marshall of Elyria and Leonard Marshall; sister: Maxine Rice; brother: Thomas B. (Barbara) Watson; special niece and nephew, Frank (Ann) Rice and Michelle (Tony) Harrington and niece Nicole Watson; devoted friends: Christopher (Rachel) Donaldson of Cleveland; Albert Troy (Jannette) Hill; Kevin (Michelle) Hill; brother-in-law: Donald Chapman of California, brother-in-law, Victor Chapman of Florida; sister-in-law, Dorothy Echols of Alabama, sister-in-law, Kathlyn (Stanley) Long of Lorain; other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas H. Watson; mother, Mahaley Heard Watson; and one brother, Carl Watson.

A memorial honoring the life of David John Watson will be held at the New Russia Township Picnic Shelter, 46300 Butternut Ridge Road, Oberlin, Ohio 44074 on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
