Douglas M. Taylor, 67, transitioned from this life on Monday, February 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness. Doug, as he was called by family and friends, was born March 30, 1954, in Lorain, Ohio, where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Admiral King High School in the class of 1972. While attending high school, he was an outstanding athlete in football and basketball. After high school, he worked at Ford Motor Company and retired from there after 32 years of service. He was a founding member of Greater Victory Christian Ministries where he served on the Usher Board. Following his retirement from Ford, Doug started his own cleaning business, “Executive Cleaners” and “Jan’Pro”. He was also the founder of Next Level Youth Mentorship, which provided fulfillment by ministering to the youth by reaching them through athletics. Doug enjoyed traveling, sports, landscaping, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Douglas leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Minnie Taylor; his sons; Douglas Edward Davis (Tina) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Douglas DeQuae Taylor (Carmen) of Lorain, and Damesha M. Yontz (Jason) of Lorain; 8 grandchildren; his siblings, Leonard Taylor (Joyce) of Elyria, James Taylor of Lorain, Hattie Davis of Avon Lake, Rachel Goodwin of Lorain, Harold Taylor of Minnesota, Velma Kimbro of Elyria, and Betty Fluker (Tommy) of Sheffield Lake, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded into death by his parents, Richard Taylor, Sr. and Rachel (nee Moon) Taylor; brothers: Robert Taylor, Sr., Carl Taylor, Sr., Riley Taylor, Sr., and Elder Richard Taylor; sisters, Geraldine Taylor, Lillie Simmons, Carolyn Moore, and Minister Carol Merchant. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 5PM-8PM at Greater Victory Christian Ministries, 559 Reid Ave, Lorain OH 44052, where funeral services will be held Monday, February 28, at 11AM. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
