Edward (Ed) Davis Jr

Edward (Ed) Davis Jr, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 9, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Ed was born September 8, 1950, in Birmingham, AL to Velma Jackson and Edward Davis Sr. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1969, served in the US Army, and worked at Sandusky Dressed Beef and Ford Motor Company. Ed loved fishing, gardening, and BBQing for friends and family. He also enjoyed repairing his bicycles, watching westerns, writing poetry, and listening to music. He was truly a jack of all trades and was quick to help others in any area of his expertise. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandkids who affectionately called him “Grandpa Eggs”. Edward Davis Jr leaves to cherish his memories: a Godfearing mother, Velma (Davis) Casteel of Sandusky, OH; five daughters Dawn (Kevin) White of Colorado Springs, CO, Kynisha Turner of Temple, TX, Shatina Davis of Sandusky, OH, Dynah Davis of Milwaukee, WI, and LaCoya Davis of Sandusky, OH; two sons, Edward Denelle (Cindy) Davis of Columbus, OH, and Drew Davis of Sandusky, OH; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Bernice (Royce) Lewis of Akron, OH; Janie Casteel-Payne of Clinton, MI; and brother Robert Wayne (Donna) Casteel of Sandusky, OH. Edward Davis Jr was preceded in death by his father Edward Davis Sr; stepfather Elder Robert Casteel; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Armateen Davis; maternal grandparents Johnnie and Dynah Jackson; sister Carrie L Jones; stepsisters Lisa A Jones, Alberta Clark, Joyce Casteel, Christine Casteel, and Rosie Woods. Services will be held on Monday, July 25th at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave, Sandusky, OH, with visitation beginning at 11am until time of funeral at 12noon. Pastor Joseph Strong will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, 2602 Bogart Rd, Huron, OH.
