Emmett Terry Clayton

Emmett Terry Clayton was born on March 9, 1967, to the late Clarissa Blake (née Clayton) and William Henry Blake S., in Lorain, Ohio. After a long battle with cancer, Emmett departed this life on March 21, 2023. Emmett attended elementary school at Washington, Charleston, and Lowell, in Lorain. He attended junior high school at School 44, in Buffalo, New York. He received his high school diploma from Hutchinson Technology High School, in Buffalo, New York. Emmett was a strong individual and worked hard to provide for his family. He started out working at Angelica Corporation, providing laundry and medical linen to hospitals, in Buffalo, New York. Emmett later went on to do factory work at Coca-Cola and Duck Brand World (Duct Tape), in Lorain, Ohio. Emmett was a kindhearted and loving person. He could easily make friends wherever he went and always greeted others with a smile. Emmett was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was the kind of person that if he met you once, you would always remember him. Emmett enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending church, working on cars, gambling (cards and dominos), dancing, cooking, barbecuing, and having water fights in the house. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clarissa, father, William Sr., two brothers, William Henry Blake Jr. and Carmen Kimbrough Sr. Emmett leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 18 years, Corrine Clayton; 5 daughters, Telisia, Clarissa, Chacarra, Brittany, and Tehya; 4 sons, Emmett Jr., William, Lamar, and Antoine; 6 stepchildren: Jennifer, Dale, Aleia, Celina, Ayanna, and Jada; 33 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Monique; four brothers: Benard, Eric, George, and Cornelius; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 31, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Living Word Church, 2002 E. 28th St., Lorain.
