On April 3, 2022 Eric D. Brown transitioned from this life surrounded by family and friends at home.
Eric was born on June 28, 1958 in Bay Village, Ohio to Patricia Lee Smith and John McGee Brown, and was a life-long resident of Lorain, Ohio.
Eric graduated from Admiral King High School in 1978 and was an avid athlete in the field of basketball, baseball, and football.
As a teenager he worked in the JTPA-Ceda programs. As an adult he worked at Fligner’s and Polansky’s as a meat cutter. He then became the proprietor of his own lawn care and landscaping services.
You could find Eric in the kitchen, doing what he did best, cooking!! He had an absolute love for the grill. He also enjoyed watching sports (OSU, Browns, and the CAVS), singing, dancing, and being around his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his significant other of 30 years, Geraldine ‘Becky’ Gaines; his children, Eric Brown, Jr., Aaron Brown, and Andre Gaines; daughters, Latricia Brown and Alexis Brown of Lorain Ohio, Katierra Tolliver of Elyria Ohio, and Erica Brown of Cleveland Ohio; brothers, Terrance Smith of Kansas City Missouri, Greg Smith of Palm Springs California, Scott Fowler and John Brown of Lorain Ohio, David Smiley of Buffalo New York, and Jason Brown of Elyria Ohio; sisters, Pam Smith-Gilbert, Kim (Tyru) Smith, and Wendy Fowler-Walker, all of Lorain Ohio, Debbie Fenderson of Cleveland Ohio, Elaine Clifford and Renee Powell of Cumberland, Maryland; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Lee Smith and father John McGee (Hooker) Brown; brother Lani Ricky Smith; maternal grandparents, Gertrude Epps-Revel, and Charlie Revel and paternal grandparents Edna Powell and McGee Brown.
A private viewing will be held for close family and close family friends.
The celebration of Eric’s life will be on April 23, 2022 at the Italian American Veterans Club, 4567 Oberlin Ave, Lorain OH 44053 from 3pm–10pm.
