Fannie L. Young-Lester

Fannie Louise Young-Lester, 86, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Fannie was born in Florence, South Carolina, but was relocated to Lorain County in 1959. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Lorain, Ohio, where she was a member for over 50 years. She was retired from the former Lorain Community Hospital after 44 years of faithful service as a nurse’s assistant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Lilly Mae (Mitchell) Young; her husband James Lester; sisters, Eva Mae McNeill, Zelma Fairly, and Bernice Robinson; a brother, Jack Young; and sons, John Walter McNeill, Freddie McNeill, and Maurice Kevin Young. Fannie is survived by her son, David (Adrienne) McNeil, and special son, Tomack McNeil; a sister, Mary Gilchrist; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1516 E. 30th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055, with a viewing hour from 10AM until time of funeral service at 11AM. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
