Ms. Gloria Jean Jackson

Ms. Gloria Jean Jackson died peacefully among close family on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Gloria was born October 17, 1943 to the late Iola Harvey and Harold Jackson in Elyria, Ohio. 

Gloria moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1972 and was employed until retirement with MichCon Gas Company (DTE). Gloria enjoyed many things but what she cherished more than anything was her family. She enjoyed going outside and working in her yard. This was her "therapy". She enjoyed welcoming and entertaining people at her home, putting some good food on the grill, and having a good time with family and friends. Her greatest memories were spent creating and capturing moments with the ones she loved so dearly. 

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother Iola Harvey, father Harold L. Jackson, son, Victor R. Jackson and nine siblings; Barbara Jean Jackson, Harrison Lee Jackson, Harold “HP” Jackson, Toria Allen, Cassandra Robles, Hillary Morris, Huey “Mickey” Morris, Elijah Morris and Lashelle “Shellie” Sweat.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Damon Jackson of Detroit, MI; daughters, Toni Duncan of Elyria, OH and Jacqueline Jackson of Detroit, MI;  grandchildren, Devaughn Hughes of Dallas, TX, Latoya Jackson (Donald) of Elyria, OH, Victoria Jackson of Dallas, TX, Ashley Jackson of Elyria, OH, William Jackson of Columbus, OH, and Imani Jackson of Detroit, MI; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Edwards of Twinsburg, OH, and Ernestine Gilbert of Elyria, OH; one aunt, Harriet Morgan of Elyria, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral will follow on Thursday, May 16, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Services will be held at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 632 W River Rd N, Elyria, Ohio. The burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.
