Hattie Leona Davis

Hattie Leona Davis of Lorain, OH went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2022. She was one of sixteen children and was born January 31, 1935 in West Virginia to the late Richard Taylor Sr. and Rachel (née Moon) Taylor. She graduated from Elkhorn High School in West Virginia. Hattie traveled from the hills of West Virginia and moved to Lorain where she met and married Donald W. Davis in 1956. She gave birth to their son Duane L. Davis in 1957. Donald worked at the Lorain Steel Mill and passed in 1965. Hattie remained a widow. Hattie loved to talk. She was the life of the party. She was a very hard worker and was employed by Ford Motor Company for 37 years. She loved her family, sports, working in the yard, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Lorain. Her memory is cherished by her son Duane L. (Mary Lee) Davis of Avon Lake, OH; her grandchildren: Duane W. Davis of Charleston, WV, Patrick J. Davis of Los Angeles, CA, Brendon Collins of Columbus, OH, and Noah Brooks of Akron, OH; brothers: James Taylor of Lorain, OH, Leonard (Joyce) Taylor of Elyria, OH, and Harold Taylor of Champlin, MN; sisters: Rachel Goodwin of Lorain, OH, Betty (Tommy) Fluker of Sheffield Lake, OH, and Velma Kimbrough of Elyria, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard Taylor Sr and Rachel (née Moon) Taylor; brothers: Robert Taylor Sr., Carl Taylor Sr., Riley Taylor Sr., Richard Taylor, and Douglas Taylor; sisters: Geraldine Taylor, Lillie Simmons, Carolyne Moore, and Carol Merchant, and stepson Donald Flanders. Please join us for her celebration of Life on Friday, November 18, 2022 at House of Praise, 4321 Elyria Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until time of her Homegoing Service beginning at 11AM. Pastor Mark Hebebrand will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, 640 N. Ridge Rd., Lorain, Ohio 44053.
