Herbert Carr Arnold Jr

Herbert Carr Arnold Jr., 81, of Elyria, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in Avon, Ohio. Born on June 8, 1944, in Elyria, Herbert was a lifelong resident of the community he loved. He attended Elyria High School, where he excelled as a standout track and field athlete.

Herbert worked as a general laborer, spending years in the auto industry as well as on the railroad. He enjoyed traveling, listening to music, playing cards with friends, and family gatherings. Known for his warm personality, Herbert never met a stranger—he had a gift for connecting with people wherever he went.

Herbert was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oberlin, Ohio.

He is survived by his children, Herbert Carl Arnold and Genella Taylor; his grandchildren; and his siblings Carolyn Arnold, Sandra (Nathaniel) Kimbro, Constance Thomas, Michael Arnold, and Brenda Conley. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn “Pudden” Green Arnold; his parents, Herbert Carr Arnold Sr. and Genella (née Thrist) Arnold; his siblings Toni Gilmore, Gary Arnold, and Gene Harvey; and his paternal grandparents, Robbie Valentine Arnold and Madison Arnold.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Rd., Lorain OH 44053. Bishop Charles Howard, Pastor of God’s Kingdom in Lorain, Ohio, will officiate.
