James Robert Adkisson, age 85, of Lorain, peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 18, 1940, in Milan, Tennessee, James graduated from high school before relocating to Lorain by train to live with his older brother and sister-in-law. He went on to build a long and dedicated career at the Ford Motor Company Lorain Plant, retiring after more than 30 years of service. A proud member of UAW Local 425, James was respected for his hard work and commitment.
Outside of work, James found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved drinking Pepsi while watching football and basketball games, and he had a passion for landscaping and yardwork. Though he created a small business around it, he pursued this work more for enjoyment than profit. Known for his humor and ability to make others laugh, James cherished time spent with family and friends.
James leaves to celebrate his memory his devoted wife of 52 years, Judy Adkisson (née Laster); his son, James Adkisson of Lorain; two daughters, Camille L. Adkisson of Lorain, and Celeste N. Adkisson of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brother, Billy (Annie) Adkisson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Adkisson; mother, Betty Smith; brothers, Emma Lee Smith and Sammy Lee Smith; and sisters, Opal Jones, Ludie Ruth Harris, Ester Hughes, and Georgia Mae Adkisson.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 29th, 2025, from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, OH. Bishop Mark Smith will officiate the service and Apostle Sammy Smith, Eulogist.
