James Howard Horn, of Elyria, transitioned into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born in Abbeville, Alabama, on August 28, 1945, to Daniel and Jessie Horn, and was the eldest of six children.
At the age of 9, the family moved to Ohio and became deeply connected to their religious roots by joining the Macedonia Church of God in Christ, where James was active in youth activities. He attended local public schools and played various sports, including Little League baseball, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Like most young men in the neighborhood, James was an avid basketball fan. He also developed a love for golf by caddying at the local country club.
In 1963, James graduated from Elyria High School. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War and served in the Air Force. While based in California, he met his future wife, and they returned to Ohio to start a family.
Once back in Ohio, they welcomed a daughter, Felicia Miko Horn. James used his military education benefits to receive an Associate of Arts degree in Applied Science from Lorain County Community College (LCCC). He worked in manufacturing at Fruehauf in Avon and continued to pursue his education at Cleveland State University.
James later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked for several years at Job Corps and welcomed two additional children, Xavier and Serena Horn. As his parents aged, he decided to move back to Ohio to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Felicia Miko Horn and Serena Horn; his son, Xavier; his mother, Jessie Lynn Horn; his brother, Darryl Frederick Horn (Marnina); his sisters, Jewel Loftin, Schaler Stanford, Olivia Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Horn; his sister, Barbara Horn Wallace; and his aunt, Mary Cabbil.
A visitation will be held Wednesday. June 26, 2024, from 11 AM until the time of his funeral service at Noon, held at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain Ohio 44053,
