His Life and Legacy
Joe’s affection for cars was well known, and he cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed visiting the bowling alley, watching classic films, and was always impeccably dressed—often in a stylish vest. His favorite pastimes included watching old westerns, especially The Lone Ranger, and crime dramas like CSI. He also loved boxing and found peace by the lake in the evenings.
After completing his military service in the US Army, Joe began his career as a private police officer at P&J Traven. He later worked as a quality control analyst for the U.S. Postal Service. Following retirement, he continued serving others as a social worker for Cuyahoga Family & Children Services, a probation officer for the Adult Parole Authority, and occasionally as a substitute teacher for Cleveland City Schools.
Joe was a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., carrying its values of brotherhood, scholarship, and service throughout his life.
Words He Lived By
Joe was known for his faithful sayings, which captured his outlook on life. He often declared “Indubitability,” a word that reflected his confidence and certainty in what he believed. He also loved to say “Dig it,” a phrase that showed his joy, enthusiasm, and encouragement to embrace life fully. These expressions became part of his identity, remembered fondly by those who knew him best.
