Katherine "Nottie" Walden

Katherine “Nottie” Walden was born June 22, 1938, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the union of Cornelius and Lucy Spraggins. She was a longtime resident of Lorain, Ohio.

Katherine was a founding member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and served on the Mother Board and Trustee Board, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary, Pastor’s Aide, Kitchen Committee, Senior Choir and was the Senior Choir Director. Additionally, she was a member of the Women’s Congress of the Consolidated Flint River Running Water Primitive Baptist Church Association.

She worked at the Mariotti Printing Company and also for the Mariotti Family. She worked and retired from the Sprenger Lorain Manor Nursing Home, and was a volunteer for the March of Dimes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Cornelius and Lucy (Mastin) Spraggins; two sisters, Rosie Holley and Ella “Peggy” Morgan; three brothers, John Spraggins, Darnell Spraggins, and Sam Spraggins.

Katherine will be greatly missed by her children, Michael Walden, Mark (Deborah) Walden, and Sonja (Anthony) Morrow; grandchildren, Robert, Natalie, Candice, Amanda, Ashley, Mark II, Marquell, Mattie, Whitney, Michelle, Matthew and Tamar; 20 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Ann (Donald) Adams; sisters-in-law, Betty Spraggins and Emma Spraggins; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 11AM until time of her service at Noon at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain OH 44052; Rev. Tyrone Holley, Pastor. Katherine’s interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
