Marilyn Elizabeth Daughtery-Owens transitioned to her heavenly home on September 16, 2026, at her only daughter’s home in Chicago, Illinois, following a lengthy illness

Marilyn was the first daughter born on October 21, 1933, in Lorain, Ohio to her father, Cyrus Francis, and her mother Jennie Francis. She was affectionately named "21” by her father because she was the second born child and the first girl of what was to become a family of ten children.

Marilyn attended Lorain City Schools and graduated from Lorain High School. She later was employed at American Greeting Card Factory, RCA, and the Elyria Courthouse for Judge Weber.

Marilyn loved staying active and physically fit. She enjoyed walking and playing many sports, especially racquetball at the YMCA on a regular basis. Marilyn was very creative. She took pride in keeping her house clean and beautifully decorated. She had many hobbies she enjoyed like shopping, traveling, spending time outside doing yardwork and gardening, and crocheting many special items. She really enjoyed baking some of her favorites for loved ones, which were fudge and pan cookies. She loved hosting and entertaining friends and family and always made sure to have gifts to give. Marilyn was a Christian woman and attended church on a regular basis.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Fred Owens, Wellington OH; daughter, Lori (Darrell) White, Chicago, IL; bonus daughters, Shondra, Shirley, Oberlin, Tina, Florida; sisters; Rosetta Montgomery, Lorain, Beatrice (Al) Smith, Akron, Juanita Francis-Mastin, Lorain, Brothers: Gilbert (Stella) Francis, Lorain, Gordon Francis, Placentia, California, Glenn (Terri) Francis, Lorain, Grand-daughters, Tiffiny (Carl) McGowan, Jacksonville, Florida, Christina (Damien) Hughes, Louisville Kentucky, and Great Grandchildren, Olivia, Joshua and Kentley along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Marilyn is being welcomed into her Eternal Home to re-unite with her parents, Cyrus and Jennie Francis, first husband Charles Daughtery, brother, Gaylord (Skeets) Francis, sisters, Phyllis Harris, Evalyn Johnson along with a niece, Tina Johnson and a nephew, Michael Harris. What a joyous reunion that awaits her!

Memorial service will be on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at 1:00pm at the Brown Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
