Mark Adrian Wilkes was born on May 25, 1962, in Lorain, to Donald Ray Wilkes and Elaine Herrera-Franks. Mark was known for his creativity, strength, and passion for both his country and his art. He carried himself with confidence and left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Mark attended Mission High School. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of sergeant. A proud veteran of the Gulf War, Mark was a wounded combat veteran whose service reflected both courage and sacrifice.
Beyond his military service, Mark was a gifted artist who found joy in drawing, painting, and sculpting. He also had a deep love for music and became a well-known DJ, working with several notable artists and bringing energy and life to every space he touched.
At the age of 63, Mark transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, April 28, 2026, after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Wilkes; his paternal grandparents, Leland Wilkes and Nancy Ann Wilkes; his maternal grandmother, Edith Brown; and his brother, Christopher Wilkes Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Elaine Herrera-Franks; his son, Martese Wilkes; his daughter, Marissa Wilkes; his granddaughter, Scarlett Rose Wilkes; his brothers, Bradley Wilkes and Michael (Peachy) Feamster; along with a host of extended family and friends who will continue to honor his life and legacy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of Service at 12:00 PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Rd., Lorain OH 44053. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
