Mary Louise Hitchens-West

Mary Louise Hitchens-West, age 81, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 30, 1944, in Hickman, Kentucky, she had been a resident of Lorain for more than 70 years.

Mary was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Lorain and worked as a home health aide for 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed playing bingo, hosting family gatherings, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and sharing joyful moments with those she loved.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Eric Curry and Anthony (Anna) Curry; three daughters, Sharon Hitchens, Norma Hitchens, and Tracey Hitchens; seventeen grandchildren; a host of great‑grandchildren; and her siblings Mattie Curry, Devonia Curry, Donna Curry, Johnny Curry, and Ella Mai Flanders, along with many other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Hitchens and Nathaniel West; two daughters, Darlene Hitchens and Janice Hitchens; her parents, Johnny Sr. and Helen Mary Curry; and her siblings William “Pete” Curry, Henry Lee Curry, Patricia May Curry, Deborah Campbell, Rufus Campbell, Frankie Shavers, and Charles Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Brown‑Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
