Michael Drummer

Michael Drummer, age 72, of Elyria, Ohio, peacefully passed away on September 15, 2026. Born on February 15, 1954, in Elyria, Ohio, Michael was the beloved son of the late Stonewall and Missouri Drummer. A lifelong resident of Elyria, Michael was deeply rooted in his community, his family, and the memories created at the family homestead on Bell Avenue.

Michael was a proud graduate of Elyria High School, Class of 1973. Shortly after, he began a long and dedicated career with Ford Motor Company in Avon Lake, Ohio. He devoted 43½ years of service to Ford before retiring in 2016. His commitment to his work was a reflection of the determination, dependability, and strong work ethic that characterized much of his life.

Michael had a genuine love for sports. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball and participated in adult leagues. As the years went by, he became an enthusiastic spectator, proudly following The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of sports with his grandchildren, often transporting them to and cheering them on at their various sporting events.

But Michael was much more than a sports fan. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life and the people around him. He loved listening to Blues music, dancing, playing cards, traveling south to visit loved ones, and simply being social. He had a special appreciation for his cars and took pride in washing and waxing them until they looked their best. During warm and pleasant days, one could often find Michael sitting outside in the yard at the family homestead on Bell Avenue, a place that held generations of memories and remained close to his heart.

Michael will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, his love of conversation and fellowship, and his ability to find enjoyment in the simple moments of life. Whether gathered around a card game, listening to music, watching a game, traveling to see family, or simply sitting outside on Bell Avenue, Michael valued being surrounded by people he loved.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his children, Andrea Burt and Camaren Burt of Columbus, Ohio; Adrienne Drummer of Lorain, Ohio; and Michael J. Drummer and Amy Pruchinski, of Lorain, Ohio.

He leaves a legacy of love through his grandchildren, Adaveon Drummer, Tariq Drummer, Sirrenidy Drummer, Sirriah Drummer, Camaren Burt II, and Camille Burt, who will carry his memory and the stories of their grandfather with them.

Michael is also survived by his brother, Ike Drummer and his wife, Mary, of Powder Springs, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Michael shared many years of companionship with Renee Keith, who remained an important and loving part of his life. He also leaves to cherish his memory Renee’s son, Lyjuan Houston, and granddaughter, Lanice Houston, whom he loved as part of the family.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Stonewall and Missouri Drummer; his brothers, Lorenzo Drummer and Willie Sain; his sisters, Pinkie Robbins and Minnie Miller; his grandparents, Ike and Pinkie Drummer; and his grandmother, Julia Lawson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain Ohio 44053, where the Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026. The Reverend Calvin Currie, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Elyria, will officiate. Interment will take place at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, Ohio.
