Milton L Minner, age 101, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Danbury Senior Living Community in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
He was born on October 10, 1924, in New Madrid, Missouri, to his father, Saint Minner, and his mother, Beatrice Sims.
Milton proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seaman first class, spending time overseas in the Philippines in the 1940s. After his military service, he dedicated many years of hard work to his community. He was employed at NASA in the 1950s and following this, he worked at the Lorain U.S. Steel Mill. He then joined the United States Postal Service where he worked as a mail carrier for 22 years of service until he retired in the 1980s.
Milton enjoyed spending time with his cherished wife Dell Minner of 54 years. He took great pride in his independence, living in his own home until just three months before his passing. He found joy in spending time with his family, watching sports on television, and listening to jazz and blues music.
He is survived by his son, Donnie Minner of Forest Park, Illinois; his granddaughter, Lori Jackson White (Darrell) of Bensenville, Illinois; his great-granddaughters, Tiffiny McGowan (Carl) of St. Johns, Florida, and Christina Hughes (Damien) of Louisville, Kentucky; his great-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Joshua McGowan of St. Johns, Florida. He is also survived by his close cousins, Gerald Howard (Shirley) and George Howard (Mildred) of Lorain, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dell Minner; his father Saint Minner; his mother Beatrice Sims; his infant son Milton Minner Jr.; as well as several half-siblings.
Milton will be remembered for his strength, independence, and deep love for his family. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and quiet resilience will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 24th at 10:00am at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1516 E. 30th Street, Lorain OH 44055. Service will follow immediately at 11:00am with Dr. Shirley Howard, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
