Morrisetta "Marcella" Wright

January 18, 1950 — November 26, 2023

Morrisetta "Marcella" Wright

Morrisetta "Marcella" Wright, 73, transitioned from this life following a lengthy illness on November 26, 2023, after having moved to her new residence in North Carolina.

Marcella was born January 18, 1950 in Montgomery, Alabama and moved to Lorain, Ohio when her cousin/brother James "Mackie" Williams brought her there by bus when she was just 5 years old.

Marcella was a long-time member of Living Word Church under the covering of Pastor Ray H. Robinson Jr. where she also served as one of the Mothers of the Church.

Macella retired from General Electric in Oberlin, Ohio as an electrician. She was a dedicated member of The Lorain County Ushers & Nurses Union, always ready and willing to help with a smile, tissues, water, and a conversation (she never met a stranger), ready to help in any capacity for anyone's service. Marcella loved volunteering whenever she could.

Marcella also enjoyed watching cowboy movies, solving crime with Law and Order, talking on the phone for hours with her niece SherryAnn Jackson, goddaughter Shirley Pruitt-Jennings, and shopping and hanging out with her daughter Michelle, BUT there's NOTHING she enjoyed more than laughing, talking to, fussing at "HER BABIES " (as she affectionately called them) Sierra, Symone (Gaddy), Jeffrey, Josiah, and Londyn, and would let EVERYONE know it.

Marcella leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Michelle Wright, and her son, Antwan Wright; her grandchildren, Sierra Carter, Jeffrey Ousley Jr, Rakim Anderson, and Josiah Cheers; her great granddaughter, Londyn Anderson; her goddaughters, Shirley Pruitt-Jennings (Harry), Lorain, Pastor Mahalia Renea Chaney (Lou), Lorain, Pamoja "Sam" Lampkin, Columbus, and Symone Gaddy, Lorain.

Marcella was raised as “siblings” instead of first cousins with Norma Carson, Lorain, Debra McNeil, Detroit, Ml, Joanne Qualls (Jerry), Henning, TN, Joyce Williams (James "Mackie"), Lorain, Joseph Washington, Cleveland, brother in-law, Bruce Rogers, Lorain, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Marcella was preceded in death by her beautiful mother, Dorothy Wright, her father, John Wrice, grandfather Wiley Wright, grandmother Rosa Desker, cousin/brother James "Mackie" Williams, and cousin/sister Sandra Washington.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 4pm until time of service at 5pm at Living Word Church, 2002 East 28th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
