Nathaniel “Nate” Howard

Nathaniel “Nate” Howard passed away on Friday, January 7 unexpectedly at the age of 90. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 6, 1931 to Tilton Howard and Annie Williams.

In 1952, he made his home in Lorain and began working at St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 2001 after 49 years of service. He was the maintainer of the Boiler Room and plumbing tasks. Becoming enthused with plumbing, he attended trade schools, seminars, and did apprentice work to obtain status of Master Plumbing in 1981. He served many years on the Lorain County Plumbing Board of Examiners. In 1984, he started his own business, Nate’s Plumbing and Heating Company.

He enjoyed working in his yard, family, shopping, and taking long rides, mainly through the country areas.

Survivors include his wife of 25+ years, Maxine; his daughters, Sherry Felton Stonestreet (Freddie) and DeeVee Divins and son, Gerald T. Howard; grandchildren: Kellen Howard, DeeDee Carter, Samuel Felton, Lena Ebson, and David Divins and great grandchildren: Samson Felton, Kadance Howard and Aiona Felton; stepchildren: Stephanie Fillyaw and Chad Adams; 4 step grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a nephew, Michael Mitchell; many cousins from Chicago whom he cherished and many family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Annie (January 5, 1992), sister Kathy Perry and his parents.

Viewing will be Saturday, January 15 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
