Nelson Bracy III

Nelson Bracy III

Nelson Bracy III, 69, of Lorain, passed away October 13, 2023, at his home. He was born November 4, 1953, in Lowndes County, Alabama. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1972, and had a life-long career at Ford Motor Company, and retired in July of 1997.

Nelson gave his life to the Lord in the mid 1970’s and was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Elder Jesse L. Matthews, formerly of Greater Christ Temple Church, in Elyria, Ohio. Nelson was a modern-day “Barnabas” and a true “son of encouragement & consolation!” He also walked in a simplistic, yet profound level of generosity throughout his entire life. He prayed and encouraged so many, on the streets of Lorain County and beyond! Nelson was very well-read and could speak on any subject. He had the ability to be culturally aware, while remaining biblically relevant! He would commonly read two newspapers per day, besides the magazine he always kept “rolled-up” in one of his pockets. Although he was an “old soul,” Nelson loved to travel and frequently invited others to come along.  It was nothing for him to “hop” an Amtrak train to visit various parts of the country.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Georgia Ann Bracy, and his brother, John Allen Bracy.  He is remembered and survived by:  his son Nelson Aundre Bracy, who along with his mother, Mae, began to take care of Nelson as his health began to decline. He is also survived by grandchildren: Takira Greenhill, Shamarion Bracy, and Antovion Whitfield, all of Lorain, Ohio. His siblings include:  Dorothy Lusane (Arthur), Patricia Ralston (James), John Allen Bracy, deceased (Patrica), Michael Bracy (Jolynn), and Napoleon Bracy, all of Lorain, Ohio, Teresa Evans, of Birmingham, Alabama, Marion Johnson (Glen), of Canfield, Ohio, Melvin Bracy (Deborah) of Columbus, Ohio, and Anita Bracy of Nashville, Tennessee, as well as his many brothers and sisters in Christ throughout his pilgrims’ journey. Additionally, he has a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends from near and far!  He will be greatly missed by us all!
