In Loving Memory of Nicholas “Nick” Burkholder

March 18, 2000 – March 15, 2026

My son, Nicholas “Nick” Burkholder of Elyria, Ohio, was taken from me far too soon—just days before his 26th birthday.

Nick was my baby. Before anything else, before any title, before anything anyone could ever say—he was mine. And that love does not end here.

He was a father, a son, a brother, and a man who was still figuring life out. He had a strong will, a hard head, and a spirit that didn’t quit.

Nick loved his child, Wynter Burkholder-McCullum. That was his heart. He also leaves behind Wynter’s mother, Toniiyanna McCullum.

He is survived by his mother, Andrea Souders, her partner, Matthew Arnold, who stands beside her through this unbearable loss, and his father, Jason Burkholder.

Nick leaves behind his sister, Nicole Burkholder, and his brothers Anthony Souders and Austin Burkholder, along with brothers he chose—bound by loyalty and love.

He was loved by his Aunt Rita Marrow.

He was also loved by aunts who may not have been by blood, but were by heart.

Nick wasn’t perfect—but he was real. He showed up for people. He stood by those he loved. And he was still becoming the man he was meant to be.

He will never get to see his 26th birthday on March 18. That alone doesn’t make sense. None of this does.

But what I do know is this—

he was loved, he is loved, and he will always be loved.

From a mother’s heart:

You were my baby when I held you for the first time… and you will be my baby for the rest of my life.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026; visitation from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
