Oscar Frizelle Woods

Oscar Frizelle Woods, 87, of Lorain, passed away Sunday December 26, 2021, in UH Elyria Medical Center. Oscar was born in Elyria, Ohio July 23, 1934. After graduating Elyria High School, he entered into the U. S. Air Force, where he served in the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge and traveling abroad, he later returned to Lorain County. He retired from U.S. Steel and the Pepsi Cola Company, where was a truck driver. He was also a bus driver for Lorain City Schools and a driver for LCADA. He was a member of the Local 1104 United Steelworkers of America Union, and a member of Greater Christ Temple in Elyria. Oscar enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, cooking, traveling to casinos, and spending time with his family. He loved his dogs and had a special bond with them. He was a very social person who never met a stranger. He was known for making people laugh by being a jokester. He was also known for his love of always having a new car. One of Oscar’s memorable events was when he was crowned ‘King for a Day’ at the Lorain County Fair. Oscar will be sadly missed by his wife, Creola Woods; his children, Susan Smith (Greg), Almajean Trawick, Beverly Monteleone (Chris), Norma Woods Zielke (Brian), Oscar R Woods (Ida) and Shirley Woods-Brown; a host of grandchildren; two sisters, Ethelia Woods-Bryant and Beverly Bennett; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita Woods; a son, Earl E. Woods; his parents, Oscar L. and Beulah (nee Stephens) Woods; his sister Gladys (nee Woods) Hickmon; his brothers Clayto, Eartha, Adelbert, Delano, Clinto, Ronald, Charles and Raymond Woods. A viewing will be held Thursday, January 6, from 11AM until time of service at 12PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Wearing a mask and social distancing are required.
