Like a steady road stretching toward the horizon and a song carried on a harmonica’s gentle note, Robert Gene McEwen moved through life with strength, humor, and care for those around him. He died on September 10, 2026, in Elyria, Ohio, at the age of 82.

Born on May 27, 1944, Robert Gene McEwen built a life marked by hard work and lasting devotion. He served in the Navy and later worked as a truck driver, a path that suited a man who knew the value of endurance and direction. Whether on the water fishing, out on a drive, or lifting a tune on his harmonica, he found simple joys that gave rhythm and color to his days. Above all, he treasured spending time with family.

Those who knew Robert knew a man remembered as funny, caring, loving, strong, and a leader in the lives he touched. His presence brought both steadiness and warmth, and his memory remains woven into the many ordinary and meaningful moments shared with him.

Robert Gene McEwen is survived by his sons, Joseph McEwen and Dominic McEwen; his daughters, Jessie McEwen and Jenny McEwen; 13 grandchildren; a great grandson, Aaron Brooks; his cousin, Bob McIntyre; and close friends Tim and Char Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse McEwen; his mother, Pauline McEwen; his brother, Irvin McEwen; his sister, Iona McEwen; and his grandson, Daniel Long.

Private services will be held.

As the miles of his life continue in memory, and the music he played lingers softly, Robert Gene McEwen will be remembered with love by those who carry his story forward.
