Robert Stevens Taylor, Jr., 64, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on August 15, 1961, to Robert and Beulah (Carlton) Taylor in Lorain, Ohio. Robert loved and was very passionate about his family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards (Spades), Greedy and other family-oriented games. Like his father, he had a knack for carpentry. He also took pleasure in landscaping, grilling, painting, and making others laugh until their bellies hurt. He carried himself with confidence and left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Robert attended Clearview and Lorain City Schools. He worked in various factories. He was noted for being a hard and dependable worker. Following instructions from Pastor Jessica (Paulette) Taylor, Robert attended a Sunday morning service, not knowing that it would be the day that he would surrender his life to Christ. He was later given the right-hand of fellowship and began his Christian journey. He was terribly excited and had a hunger to learn more about God.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 33 years, Melinda Taylor (Marquez); 6 daughters, Corrina, Cherry, Shawnitta Charlton, Natisa Horton, Alonna, and Alaiena Charlton: and 3 sons Robert III, Royal and Juan Taylor. 21 grandchildren; his sisters Marion (Jerry) Wells, Deborah (Darnell) Legard, Marsetta (Ronald) Charlton, Rhonda Howard, Donna (Kenneth) Sims, Beverly Greer and brother, Alvin (Dhonyale) Taylor, along with a host of nephews, nieces and extended family and friends, and special friend Kenny (Gwen) Jackson, who will continue to honor his life and legacy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roderick Taylor, parents Robert and Beulah Taylor; his paternal grandparents, Richard & Rachel (Moon) Taylor; his maternal grandparents, Mansfield and Bessie (Howell) Carlton and his sisters, Edith Jackson, Esteleen Prieto, Beulah Todd, and Janet Taylor and his best "brother" friend, Clarence “Cornbread” Cornwell.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of Service at 12:00 PM at New Life Deliverance Ministries, 400 Washington Avenue, Lorain, OH 44052.
