Rockie LaVay Lurry, 65, was born on October 28, 1960, in Lorain, Ohio. He passed away on March 30, 2026. Born and raised in Lorain, Rockie had a deep love for his city and the community he called home.
He was employed at Diamond Products in Elyria, Ohio, where he was both respected and well-loved. Rockie was a proud graduate of Southview High School, where he participated in multiple sports, excelling especially in baseball.
Rockie was known for his directness, his strong personality, and his ability to make people laugh. He left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
He leaves to honor his memory two daughters, Tasha Lurry & Tomica Penny; his 11 grandchildren: Nikayla Wilkins, Mikayla Hudson, Nickey Wilkins Jr., Jacquil Hudson, Royanna Hudson, Nikaveon Wilkins, Mikhi Woodland, Jakyra (Zakaria) Sarraa, Nicole Wilkins, Marlaya McGowan & Yanaliese Johnson; his 2 great-granddaughters: Saleaha Johnson & Aliah Curry; his mother, Annie Virginia Lurry; his brothers, Dennis (Nancy) Lurry, Rickie (Andrea) Lurry, both of Lorain, Ohio, Collin (Sheree) Sneed of Joliet, Illinois, Darrell Sneed of Gurnee, Illinois, and Denay (Ernestine) Lurry of Memphis, Tennessee; his sisters, Helena Strong, Dorothy Blackman, Rennetta Alexander, all of Joliet, Illinois, Shirlie (Vincent) Rodgers of Lorain, Jane Daniels of Memphis, Tennessee, .Felicia Hinton and Minerva Sneed, both of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by Carolyn Lurry and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Rockie was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Lurry; his brothers, George Lurry, Kelvin Lurry, and Johnny Sneed; and his sisters, Betty Jean Tyler, Martha Mae Norris, Louise Lurry, and Shirley King.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 11th, at Brown‑Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain OH 44053. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed immediately by the service at 1:00 p.m.
