Rosalie J. Yancey, of Lorain, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin, Ohio, after a short illness.
Rosalie was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Lorain at an early age, where she became a lifelong resident. She retired from General Motors in Elyria after more than 20 years of service. She was a former member and musician at Second Baptist Church in Lorain and was presently a member and musician at Friendship Baptist Church in Lorain.
Rosalie loved music, shopping, spending time with her family, and watching Family Feud on television.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Lynda Lee of Lorain and Valerie (Ronald) Richards of Columbus, Ohio; her son, Kenneth (Marvel) Yancey of Oberlin, Ohio; her grandchildren, Erica Yancey of Lorain, Renelle (Kareem) Smith of Euclid, Ohio, K. Ryan Yancey of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and Lenore (Joel) Nelson of Columbus, Ohio; great grandchildren Melvin Jackson, Devonte Jackson, Anthony Ballard, Isaac Smith, Dominick Smith, Miriam Smith, Seleh Smith, Savannah Nelson, and Sierra Nelson; great great grandchildren Aura Jackson, Emry Jackson, Marlei Jackson, and Hendrix Jackson; her sister, Barbara Cook; her brother, James Walker of Phoenix, Arizona; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Booker Yancey Jr.; her son, Norman Yancey; her parents, Roy and Mabel Walker; her brother, John Walker; and her granddaughter, Glenda K. Yancey.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Friendship Baptist Church, 1260 Reeves Ave., Lorain, OH 44052, where Reverend John R. Jackson, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
