Rosemary Lakes

Rosemary Lakes (née English), age 79, of Lorain, Ohio, transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, January 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 2, 1946, in Lorain, Rosemary—affectionately known as Bud—spent her entire life rooted in the community she cherished.

A proud graduate of Clearview High School, Class of 1964, Rosemary married the love of her life for 60 years, the late Willie B. “Bubba” Lakes, shortly after graduation.

Rosemary retired in 1996 from the CenturyTel Telephone Company in Lorain. In her retirement, she embraced the simple joys that brought her peace and happiness—shopping, writing recipes, coloring, playing bingo, studying her Bible, and planning family gatherings.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Anthony (Meredith) Lakes, Anita Lakes Brooks, and Willie Lakes III; stepchildren Dwight Bason, Dalphette Calhoun, and Dalphene Bason; and bonus children Elder Dora Boyd, Valerie Lovett, and Joseph Hawthorne. She is also survived by her grandchildren Arika, Anthony, Marshall, Adriel, Chenelle, Anthony “AJ,” and Adoniya; bonus grandchildren Dwayne Blue and Michael Mastin Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends who loved her deeply.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willie B. “Bubba” Lakes; her son Aric Lakes; her parents Fenton “F.A.” and Rosa “Ms. Rosie” English; and her brother Thomas “T.P.” English.

Visitation is on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
