Rowland Turner

Rowland Turner, 61, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2025. He was born on June 10, 1963, in Sandusky, Ohio, to John W. Turner, Sr. and Ermie L. Turner (Cunningham). Rowland grew up in Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School. Not long after, he joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country and earned an Associate Degree in Material Management and Logistics. After living for a time in Columbus, Ohio, Rowland eventually made Dallas, Texas his home. A gifted and passionate tradesman, he worked as a general contractor and licensed electrician. His ability to build and repair was more than a skill; it was a calling. Whether it was a small household fix or a large commercial job, Rowland approached every project with care, craftsmanship, and pride. People trusted him not just for what he could do, but for how he did it, with integrity and heart. Rowland also had a deep love for travel and adventure. He explored the world, made friends wherever he went, and lived life fully and boldly. He had a way of lighting up a room, and his magnetic personality, generous spirit, and easy laugh left a lasting impression on everyone who met him. Rowland was a devoted father to four children: Jazzmon Wright of Maryland, and Brandon Wilder, Rowlanda Turner, and Jada Turner, all of Dallas, Texas. He loved his children with all his heart and beamed with pride when he spoke of them. 

He is survived by his loving mother, Ermie L. Turner of Sandusky, Ohio; his four children Jazzmon, Brandon, Rowlanda, and Jada; two brothers, John W. Turner, Jr. (Cheryl) of Columbia, South Carolina, and David L. Turner (Takesha) of Sandusky; and four sisters, Christine Webb (Javian) of Sandusky, Mary Turner of Columbus, and Bernita and Geneva Turner, both of Sandusky. Rowland was also a cherished grandfather to Jagger J. Wright and Liam D. Hansford. His face would light up in their presence, and his love for them was deep and sincere. Along with his family, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many dear friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Turner, Sr.; his brother, Walter L. Turner; and his sisters Pearlie Turner and Berneta Turner. Rowland’s life was a beautiful reflection of strength, love, service, and joy. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and everyone whose life he touched.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 11:00AM until the time of his service at 12:00PM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 1814 Milan Road, Sandusky, Ohio. The burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
