Shelley Dean Thomas, 57, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Lorain, Shelley was born on April 22, 1968, to the late Lee Vaughan Thomas Sr. and the late Cynthia Wootten Stewart.

Shelley graduated from Admiral King High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree, reflecting her dedication to education and personal achievement. She was a devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she served on the finance committee and sang in the choir. Her beautiful voice was beloved by many, and she was frequently invited to perform at weddings and community events.

Her passion for the arts led her to participate in productions with the MAD* Factory Theater in Oberlin, Ohio. Shelley also gave generously of her time to numerous nonprofit organizations, including Feed the Children, Angel Tree, and Helping Hands. Her compassionate spirit and commitment to service left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Shelley found joy in singing, watching detective and investigative shows, playing word search puzzles, and sharing laughter with her brother. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by her son, Jason Flowers; her brother, Lee Thomas II; her sister, Monica Victor Singletary; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Vaughan Thomas Sr. and Cynthia Wootten Stewart; her stepfather, Elton Stewart; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family.

Shelley will be remembered for her radiant voice, her generous heart, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy of kindness and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
