Sherilene Harris

Listen to Obituary

Sherilene Harris was born January 27, 1958, in Lorain, Ohio to Joe Richburg and Emma Winston and adopted shortly thereafter by Ralph M. and Elizabeth Harris, who nurtured, loved, cherished and adored her. She was fondly called "Sugar Foot" by her "daddy" Ralph Sr. On Friday, October 17, 2025, Sherilene was released from her earthly labor to her heavenly reward.

Sherilene was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age under the tutelage of the late Elder Charles Mathis, of Macedonia Church of God and Christ. She also was a parishioner at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church lead by Rev. Peter Tower. Sherilene received her education in Lorain County Public Schools where she earned her diploma from Admiral King High School, class of 1977.

Sherilene was multi-talented, which afforded her the opportunity to serve in various capacities. Serving as a custodian engineer at United States Steel, a deli cook at Convenient Stores, and a state tested Nursing Assistant at Lorain Manor. She then decided to put her energies into raising her grandchildren, who she adored, Imare and Brandon Harris.

Sherilene's passion was spending countless quality time with her grandchildren. Her love of cooking, cleaning, watching endless Scary movies and a knack for talking PLENTY OF TRASH will be missed by all who KNEW HER!

Sherilene leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Gwendolyn and Melanie Harris of Lorain; grandchildren, Dre'Von, Antonio, Imare, Zaivion, Zariel and Brandon; great grandchildren, NahMair, Zyon, Messiah, Kimora, and Kamiyah; special daughter Melissa Wilson-Driver; brothers Darman N. Harris (Kathy) of Lorain, and Laurence Richburg of San Diego, California; sisters Renee Richburg of North Carolina, and Elizabeth McNeill of Maryland; an aunt, Arlene Hunter of North Carolina and an uncle, Henry Winston of Lorain; nieces Teleashia and Kimberly Harris of New York, Elizabeth III, and Keisha McNeill of Maryland; nephews Ralph M. Harris, III of Lorain, Quentin L. Harris, Jr., of Tennessee, Thomas McNeill, Jr of Maryland and Dewann Matear of Elyria; godson Jymire Locke, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Sherilene was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Elizabeth Harris, brothers Ralph M. Harris Jr., Quentin L. Harris Sr, and great granddaughter Zamora Lee-Burkes.
