Sondra Raye Moore

Sondra Raye Moore (nee Oglesby), age 82, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by her family on October 23, 2025, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio, Sondra was the cherished daughter of the late Ray Arthur and Nancie Ann (Bryant) Oglesby.

Sondra was a 1961 graduate of Sandusky High School and loved her hometown. She retired from Apples Market after working over 30+ years as a cashier.

For 61 years, Sondra was married to her devoted husband, William R. Moore. Sondra was a faithful and active member of Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church in Elyria, where she served diligently as both a Stewardess and a Trustee. Her goal was always to make sure the church was cared for as she and her husband would plant flowers around the church and strive to make the church a sanctuary where parishioners would feel comfortable and happy. Her generous and kind spirit was evident in all that she did, and she was known for her warm smile, spunky personality, gentle heart, and unwavering dedication to serving others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Andrea Raye Hines, and Terri Horton; and her sisters, Beverly Tate and Yvonne Muckle.

Sondra leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, William Richard Moore; her devoted daughter, Adrienne (David) McNeil; stepdaughter, Joy (Todd) Hilliard; five grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Madelyn, one great-grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Sondra’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and guidance will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Her legacy of strength, loyalty to her family, and unwavering support for her loved ones will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

There will be a calling hour from 10-11 AM, with the service following on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio, 44053. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
