Stanley S. Sutton Sr

Stanley S. Sutton Sr., 80, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday November 9, 2021 following a lengthy illness at Mercy Regional Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1941 in Monticello, Mississippi and had lived in Lorain, Ohio for over 61 years. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 37 years of service. He was a faithful member and trustee at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lorain and a member of the UAW Local 2000. He enjoyed gardening, playing and managing softball, and watching sports, especially his favorite teams--Pittsburgh Steelers, LA Dodgers and LA Lakers. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Bettye L. Sutton (nee Jackson); 4 children, Susan Sutton-Wilson (Craig), Venus Sutton-Pitts (Ronald), Stanley Sutton Jr. and Monica Sutton-Johnson (Maurice); 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; 3 brothers, Paul Sutton, Hollis Sutton and George Sutton; 3 sisters, Geneva Green, Gloria Hammond and Ezzilla Jackson; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Sutton and Marinda Sutton (nee Peyton) and a brother, Excell Sutton. Viewing will be Monday, November 15 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 12 noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1516 E 30th St, Lorain. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
