Supt. Willis Williams

Superintendent Willis Williams of Elyria Ohio, peacefully transitioned from this life Friday, February 17, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on April 18, 1937 to Lillian Edna Hall and Willie Williams in Mullins, West Virginia. He graduated from Conley High then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for 4 years. On April 14, 1962 he was united in holy matrimony to Betty Ann Dunn, and from that union was born 3 children. Willis was employed at Ford Motor Company and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. He dedicated his life to the Lord in 1963 under the ministry of Superintendent Titus Lockhart in Medina, Ohio. In 1968 he and his family moved to Elyria, Ohio and joined Macedonia COGIC (Fuller Rd) under Pastor Paul Williams.  Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Elder Williams founded Bethel COGIC where he pastored and nurtured countless people from 1976 until his time of death. Elder Williams served the Pentecostal District under Superintendent James Boyd, and was appointed as Superintendent in 2010. Superintendent Williams was a member and President of Elyria Ministerial Alliance where he, along with other pastors, served the community.  He had a passion for the community and the people of Kenya, Africa. In 1995, he was presented the Humanitarian award by the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday Commission of Elyria Ohio. His outreach ministry to people of Kenya earned him several Certificates of Gratitude. He was admired and respected by ministers throughout Northeast Ohio and was often sought out for his wisdom and counsel.Superintendent Williams leaves to cherish and carry on his legacy: His “Queen” Betty; sons: Willis (Celeste) Williams, Timothy (Deena) Williams; daughter Lisa (Ernest) Greene; 9 grandchildren: Jasmine, Ellis, Jamal, Jordan, Taylor, Lindsey, Tyler, Logan and Isabella; great-grandchildren: Reya and Vierre. brothers: Cheyenne (Tanya) Williams, Herbert Williams, Ezelle (Cynthia) Williams; sisters: Sheila (Glenn) Webb, Karlan Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Superintendent Willis Williams was loved by many, and his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those touched by his ministry. A viewing will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 from 3 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 6 p.m. at Faith Ministries Christian Center, 1306 Euclid Ave, Lorain OH 44052, where a family hour will be held Saturday, February 25th, from 9 a.m. until time of the Homegoing Celebration Service at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
